Shoreham N.Y. – Habberstad BMW is proud to support the 2017 Lax Out Cancer fundraiser on May 6, by donating a special edition BMW bicycle that will be raffled off to help raise funds at the event. This is the fourth consecutive year that Habberstad has donated a bike for the cause.
Lax Out Cancer, hosted by the Shoreham-Wading River Lacrosse community on the new Thomas Cutinella Memorial Field at Shoreham-Wading River High School, recognizes local children that are battling cancer and raises money to help their families fight the terrible disease. In 2016 alone, the event raised over $71,000 to help four families with children whose lives have been adversely altered by cancer. Since 2009, Lax Out Cancer has risen over $300,000. Each year the charity aims to help a new child that was recently diagnosed.
“As cancer is a disease that has affected virtually every family here on Long Island, we are proud to support this cause and help them in their tireless efforts to raise as much money as possible,” said Habberstad BMW dealer principal Erik Habberstad.
This year the event involved four high school lacrosse games involving four school districts. Participating along with Shoreham-Wading River are Miller Place, Bellport and Garden City.
